Research
Four pillars, one question: how to do more with less energy
Our research starts with materials, moves through devices and ICs, and reaches systems and applications. Each pillar advances independently while sharing a common test and validation platform.
Wide-bandgap Materials & Advanced Power Devices
From GaN and SiC epitaxy and device architectures to process technology, we develop power devices with higher blocking voltage, lower loss and greater reliability — pushing beyond the physical limits of silicon.
ExplorePower Integrated Circuits & Intelligent Gate Driving
Integrating power devices, gate drivers, protection and sensing into a single chip or module — combined with digital control and condition monitoring for more compact, intelligent power stages.
ExploreHigh-efficiency Power Conversion & Systems
High-density, high-efficiency converter topologies and control strategies for AI data centres, EV charging and energy storage — targeting efficiencies above 99% and higher power density.
ExploreSystem-level Validation & Application Demonstration
Building a validation platform spanning device characterisation, module packaging and system reliability — working with industry partners on real-world demonstrations and standards.
ExploreFour pillars, one continuous path
From base materials to end applications, our four research pillars are interlocking — so that laboratory breakthroughs can travel a clear route to industry.
Shared facilities
The centre is building a set of shared platforms for wide-bandgap power devices, available to our teams and partners. (Facilities are planned and will be commissioned in phases.)
Device characterisation & reliability
Static and dynamic parameters, double-pulse testing, HTGB/HTRB and accelerated lifetime tests.
Packaging & thermal lab
Module packaging, thermal structure design and thermal resistance measurement.
Power electronics validation bench
Converter prototype testing and efficiency measurement from watts to kilowatts.
Materials & process analysis
Epitaxial defect analysis, interface characterisation and failure localisation.
